A jackdaw, Corvus monedula, sitting on a fencepost in the countryside north of Glasgow.

nice pic. a very healthy and proud-looking jackdaw. based on the white staining on the post, looks like a favorite sitting post – perhaps for this particular bird. looks like another jackdaw in the field, perhaps the mate. based on appearance, this species may be related to the whisky jacks, found in the woods of canada.
the couple of horizontal wires that appear to be separate from the meshed wire, made me wonder if that is an electric fence…or maybe just for added strength.
Not sure if that one in the background would be the mate… jackdaws usually travel in large groups, and there were at least a dozen with this one on that day. Nice job in spotting the bird crap. There is a picnic spot where this was taken so they probably hang around here a lot waiting for food.
